We'd like to introduce you to our Family Room Team!

Community Connector: Fawn Brown

Hi, my name is Fawn Brown and I am the Community Connector at Ruth Betts Community School. I am responsible for making healthy and nutritious snacks and hot breakfast daily at our school, feeding children is something I am passionate about it. I work closely with our Community Schools Team: Parent Child Programmer, Bailey Streitle and Family Worker, Courtney Lycan. Together we reach out to members of our community to offer programs that our families want to see in The Family Room or at our school such Cooking Circle with our local dietician, Traditional Parenting Program with Elder Margaret, family fun evenings such as Pumpkin Carving, clothing drives and more. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, or with any suggestions you may have regarding programming or if you have a program you would like to offer. My email is: fbrown@ffsd.mb.ca.

Parent Child Programmer: Bailey Streitle

My name is Bailey Streitle and I'm the new Parent/Child Programmer. I will be the welcoming face you see when you come to the Family Room. I am here to provide a safe and happy environment to parents and their children as we learn through both programming and play. I was born and raised here in our community, and I now have a nearly two year old daughter of my own. I am very excited to build connections with families, and bring education and resources to our growing program. If you have any questions or suggestions about the Family Room, please email me at bstreitle@ffsd.mb.ca.

Family Worker: Courtney Lycan

My name is Courtney Lycan and I am the Family Worker for Ruth Betts. I help our families break down barriers to ensure that their children can be successful at school. Sometimes that means providing rides to school, to doctors appointments, the food bank, helping get warm winter clothing, alarm clocks, lunches, and other things of this nature. The other part of my job is setting up cultural teachings within the school. This means bringing in Elders and Knowledge Keepers to share their wisdom and culture with our students and staff. Please feel free to contact me at clycan@ffsd.mb.ca if you have  any questions or if I can be of assistance to you and your children.
