ACTIVITIES/PROGRAMS AT RBCS
Sunrise Gym – This program starts early in the school year. It runs most days of the week, starting at 8:10 and running until 8:40. For information on this program, please see the Parent Newsletter.
Lunch Program – We will be offering the lunch program again this school year. The cost per day is $2.00 per student. Calendars will be sent home at the beginning of each month to sign up.
Family Room – There are various activities offered throughout the school year for both students and parents. MOM’s group meets Thursday at 9:30 A.M. and story time runs every Wednesday morning and afternoon. Please see the monthly calendar for events.
Newspaper Club – This group meets once per week to put together a monthly newsletter to share information on events and news involving RBCS.
Student Council – Student council has classroom representatives from each of the classrooms from grades 5 to 8. In the past, they have organized activities such as RBCS Spirit Days, the RBCS clothing orders, the haunted house, Jump Rope for Heart, fundraisers for our school mascot, Wear Green for a Dream, candy grams, school dances, mini sticks tournament, the talent show and various others.
Yearbook Club – Yearbook meets once per week. for students who are interested in helping to create the school yearbook.
Homework Club – Students in grades 7 and 8 wanting help with their homework meet once per week on Thursday during the noon hour in Mrs. Kennedy’s classroom.
Outdoor Education – We have a comprehensive outdoor education program. Our grades 6 and 8 students go to Camp Whitney and our grade 7 students go on a canoe trip. Some canoe trips go in the fall, with Camp Whitney trips generally happening in the month of June. We are always looking for parent volunteers. If this interests you, please contact the school.
Swim Program – The swim program is offered for all students in grades 2 to 6. This is the first year where there will be no cost for the program to parents.
Athletic Program – Students in grades 6 through 8 are permitted to participate in our athletic program. A variety of sports are offered including cross country running, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and wrestling.
This is not a complete list of all the activities we have to offer. More information will follow regarding various others as the year progresses.
Snack Program – The Healthy Snack program will continue again this year, Kindergarten to grade 8 receive a snack every morning consisting of at least two food groups which consists of grain, fruit, vegetable or dairy. We are always grateful for parent and community volunteers to help our snack program run throughout the school year. If you are a grandparent, auntie/uncle, mom/dad and would like to help in anyway whether it’s a monetary donation or volunteering your time please contact the school at 204-687-7538.
